No longer will the criteria solely be based on your MMR. Yes it is important to communicate with your teammates during a game, and teams that are typically more encouraging and talkative during games tend to do better than others. Unfortunately Dota is a salty game, and the amount of salt in matchmaking will not decrease with this change.

By Brian Barnett Counter-Strike: GO has received a new matchmaking system that analyses player behavior across Steam. According to the Counter-Strike blog , the new system has created something called a Trust Factor for Steam players. This system takes into account total time playing CS: GO, times players have been reported for cheating, and time spent playing other games on their Steam account, with all of these contributing to create a player’s Trust Factor.

Exit Theatre Mode Valve says the results of the experiment have been positive, allowing them to keep the parts of the Prime system that were working, while ditching parts that caused issues in the CS: The Trust system is already live, but players will be able to opt to use Prime matchmaking for a little while longer. Last year, Valve launched the Prime Matchmaking service with the goal of providing a better matchmaking experience.

The system required players to link their phone numbers and later it required players to reach at least rank Because of this, Prime status ended up causing division within the community, as Prime players couldn’t interact with non-Prime players. The company said constant updates to the system will change what factors will be in play, and that the purpose of the system is for players to have a better experience without having to worry about optimizing anything.

Matchmaking system has been a hot potato in the Dota 2 community for quite some time. A few months ago, Valve introduced the so-called “behavior score” that matched players based on their behavior towards fellow players.

By Sam Stewart Valve has announced a number of major changes to Dota 2’s matchmaking, most notably an all-new feature that would require players to link their phone number to their Steam account in order to play ranked matchmaking. According to the post on the Dota 2 Blog , the developers hope that this change will cut down on players using multiple accounts and lead to a more positive matchmaking experience at all skill levels.

Players will have until May 4th to register their numbers, at which point any account without a linked number will be ineligible for ranked play. Exit Theatre Mode In addition to phone number linking, Valve is bringing back solo queue along with an option to only match against other players that are queuing alone.

In the past some solo players would occasionally be placed in matches with teams to speed up the matchmaking process, but now players can choose to opt out of these games. Valve is also making changes to the reporting and discipline systems within Dota 2. From now on any player marked for low-priority matches a special queue for highly reported players will receive a duration based ban from ranked matchmaking.

This punishment will be added in addition to the penalty games players currently receive.

Players using multiple accounts create a negative matchmaking experience at all skill brackets, so our goal is to add just enough friction to this process that the number of players doing this will be noticeably reduced. Having more players using their primary accounts will have a positive effect on both Ranked and Unranked Matchmaking. There will be a two-week grace period from today during which players have time to register a number, but starting on May 4th, accounts without a registered number will no longer be eligible for Ranked play.

Share Copy Several months ago, Valve introduced a significant change to the matchmaking system of Dota 2 that was not appreciated by the community. The end result was broken matchmaking where high-skilled players would often be matched against low-skilled players based on their in-game toxic behavior towards others. Valve clearly wanted to create a more friendly competitive environment in Dota 2.

However, the experimentation did not yield favorable results and only created frustration for many. After listening to criticism for months, the developer has finally decided to adjust the matchmaking system. A new update released for Dota 2 earlier today makes the in-game behavior score less significant over the player-rating for the general population.

However, the worst offenders will still be part of the previous system and may possibly be matched against those who are not well-versed in high-level Dota 2 play. In addition, matchmaking is now more sensitive to the number of games played on an account but will not replace the smurf-detection policy. New accounts with higher-than-usual statistics will still be matched according to skill-rating instead of the sheer number of games played.

Elsewhere, the developer has also improved the detection of exploiters, bots, account sellers, and in-game feeding. Expect more matchmaking bans to be awarded to such types of players in the coming weeks. Valve hopes that the new changes will allow for better quality matches in the game and curb toxicity levels from Dota 2.

By Andy Chalk T Comments Shares Valve has rolled out a new Counter-Strike: Global Offensive matchmaking system that expands on the Prime Matchmaking system it launched last year. Called Trust, the new system takes a more holistic approach to connecting players than Prime by taking into account a much wider range of factors, including some drawn from outside of CS: Prime Matchmaking requires that players link their accounts to their mobile devices and have a minimum CS: GO rank of 21, to help ensure a reasonably consistent level of skill and commitment between connected players.

But that “created a hard boundary in the CS: GO community, and players who might otherwise be perfectly happy playing together were separated,” Valve said in a blog post. Enter the optimistically-named Trust system. We started with that question, and have been experimenting with matching players using observed behaviors and attributes of their Steam account, including the overall amount of time they had spent playing CS: GO, how frequently they were reported for cheating, time spent playing other games on their Steam account, etc,” Valve wrote.
